Quick-start guides

Get up and running with the key features.

Getting started

Setting up your first scenario

Enter your date of birth, retirement age, and pension details. Isaac builds your projection instantly. Start with one scenario, then duplicate it to compare alternatives.

Getting started

Adding your pensions

Add DC pensions (with pot value, contributions, and growth rate), DB pensions (with guaranteed income), and configure your State Pension based on NI qualifying years.

Features

Drawdown strategies

Choose flexible drawdown, full annuity, or a blended approach. Configure annuity rates, purchase age, and escalation to model what suits you best.

Features

Spending phases & big purchases

Model how your spending changes through retirement. Set different amounts for active, mid, and later years, then add one-off costs like a new car or home renovation.

Features

Partner planning

Include your partner’s pensions, State Pension, and retirement age. Isaac models combined spending, individual tax, and proportional drawdowns for both of you.

Features

Property, ISAs & extra income

Add properties with downsizing plans, ISA balances with annual contributions, and extra income streams like rental income, freelance work, or part-time earnings.

Features

Tax customisation

Select England or Scotland tax bands. Choose whether bands are frozen, partially frozen, or rise with inflation. Isaac handles the personal allowance taper above £100k automatically.

Features

Tax-free lump sum

Choose between Upfront (PCLS), Gradual (UFPLS), or Hybrid methods. Isaac tracks the £268,275 HMRC lump sum allowance and warns you if you exceed the 25% limit.

Features

PDF reports

Export a professional A4 report with projection charts, income breakdown, event timeline, and year-by-year tables. Perfect for sharing with a financial adviser or keeping for your records.

Features

Comparing scenarios

Duplicate any scenario and change one variable at a time — retirement age, spending, contributions, or drawdown method. The dashboard shows side-by-side comparisons to help you decide.

Features

Earliest retirement age

Isaac’s solver searches across retirement ages to find the earliest point where your money lasts to your target age. Tap the result to apply it to your scenario.

Billing

Premium & promo codes

Account & billing
How do I create an account? +
Download Isaac from the App Store or Google Play, then sign up with your email or use Apple/Google sign-in. You can start planning immediately with the free tier.
What’s included in the free plan? +
The free plan includes one scenario with DC, DB, and State Pension inputs, core assumptions (inflation, growth rates, retirement age), and basic spending settings. It’s everything you need to get started.
What do I get with Premium? +
Premium unlocks unlimited scenarios and pensions, partner planning, property and ISA/savings modelling, spending curves and big purchases, extra income streams, inheritance planning, tax customisation (England/Scotland), drawdown strategy modelling, PDF export, and the earliest retirement age solver.
How much does Premium cost? +
Premium is £79.99/year (works out to about £6.67/month) or £7.99/month for more flexibility. Both plans include all Premium features. You can cancel anytime through your app store settings.
How do I cancel my subscription? +
Go to Account > Manage Subscription. This opens your App Store or Google Play subscription settings where you can cancel or change your plan. You’ll keep Premium access until the end of your current billing period.
I have a promo code. Where do I enter it? +
Go to Account > Subscription > Enter Promo Code. Type your code and tap Apply. If it’s valid, the benefits will be applied immediately — you’ll see a confirmation showing what the code unlocked.
Can I get a refund? +
Subscriptions are managed through the App Store or Google Play. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com (Apple) or the Google Play subscriptions page in your Google account. Isaac does not process payments directly, so refunds are handled by your app store.
My employer gave me access. How does that work? +
Your employer provides a promo code that unlocks Premium for you. Enter the code in Account > Subscription > Enter Promo Code. As long as your employer’s licence is active, you’ll have full Premium access at no cost to you.
How do I delete my account? +
Go to Account > Delete Account. Your personal data will be removed and your account anonymised. This action cannot be undone. If you have an active subscription, cancel it first through your app store.
Using Isaac
How accurate are the projections? +
Isaac uses the same mathematical principles as financial planning tools. It models compound growth, inflation, UK tax bands, State Pension entitlements, and drawdown sequences. However, all projections are estimates based on the assumptions you enter — actual returns, inflation, and tax rules will differ. Isaac is a planning tool, not financial advice.
Which tax year does Isaac use? +
Isaac uses 2026/27 UK tax rates by default: £12,570 personal allowance (frozen until 2031), the current England/Wales and Scottish tax bands, and the £241.30/week State Pension (triple-lock rate). All rates are updated when the government announces changes.
What’s the difference between drawdown strategies? +
Flexible drawdown takes money from your pot as you need it. A full annuity converts your pot into guaranteed income for life. A blend does a bit of both — you choose what percentage goes to each. Isaac lets you model all three with configurable rates, purchase ages, and escalation.
What are spending phases? +
Spending phases let you model how your spending changes through retirement. Most people spend more in early retirement (travel, hobbies), reduce in their 70s, and may increase again later for care costs. You set the monthly amount for each phase and the age it starts.
What is the earliest retirement age solver? +
The solver searches across possible retirement ages to find the earliest point where your money lasts to your target age (default 90). It appears as a card on your Dashboard. Tapping it applies the suggested retirement age to your scenario so you can see the full projection.
How does the tax-free lump sum work? +
You can choose Upfront (PCLS) to take a lump sum at retirement, Gradual (UFPLS) to take 25% tax-free with each withdrawal, or Hybrid which combines both. Isaac tracks the £268,275 HMRC lump sum allowance and warns you if you exceed 25% of your pot. Each person (self and partner) has an independent cap.
I’m already retired. Can I still use Isaac? +
Yes. Set your retirement age to your current age and Isaac switches to “Already Retired” mode. You can mark whether you’ve already taken your lump sum, started your State Pension, or purchased an annuity. Isaac will model your remaining drawdown from where you are now.
How does tax-efficient withdrawal ordering work? +
Each year in retirement, Isaac withdraws from your pots in the most tax-efficient order: first, it fills your personal allowance from your DC pension (tax-free up to that amount). Then it uses ISA and savings (always tax-free). Finally, if you still need more, it draws from your DC pot and applies the appropriate tax. You can read more in the Calculation Methodology page.
Can I plan with my partner? +
Yes, with Premium. Toggle “Include Partner” on the Assumptions tab. Enter your partner’s date of birth, retirement age, and State Pension details. Assign individual DC and DB pensions to each person. Isaac models combined household spending, individual tax calculations, and proportional drawdowns.
Can I link my account with my partner? +
Yes. Both partners can link their Isaac accounts so they share the same scenarios. Changes either of you makes are synced in near-real-time. You can also swap perspective to see the projections from your partner’s point of view.
How do I export a PDF report? +
With Premium, tap the export button on the Dashboard. Isaac generates a professional A4 report with your projection charts, income breakdown, event timeline, and year-by-year tables. Perfect for sharing with a financial adviser.
Does Isaac work offline? +
Yes. Your scenarios are saved locally on your device. You can view and edit them without an internet connection. When you reconnect, Isaac syncs your changes to the cloud automatically.
What is “fiscal drag” and how does Isaac handle it? +
Fiscal drag happens when tax band thresholds don’t rise with inflation, meaning more of your income falls into higher tax brackets over time. Isaac lets you choose whether bands are frozen, partially frozen, or rise with inflation in the advanced tax settings. The UK personal allowance is currently frozen until 2031.
Privacy & data
Is my financial data safe? +
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and stored securely. On Android, scenario data is also encrypted at rest on your device. We never share your financial information with third parties. All data is scoped to your account and protected by session-based authentication. You can read our full Privacy Policy for details.
Does Isaac sell my data? +
No. We will never sell your personal or financial data. Isaac is funded by Premium subscriptions and employer partnerships, not by selling user data.
What data does Isaac collect? +
Isaac collects the data you enter (pensions, spending, age, etc.) to generate your projections, plus basic account info (email, name). We also collect anonymised analytics events (signups, feature usage) to improve the app. We do not collect location data, contacts, or any data beyond what’s needed for the service. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
What happens to my data if I delete my account? +
All your personal data (scenarios, preferences, financial information) is permanently deleted. Your account record is anonymised for aggregate analytics only — no personal information is retained. This process is irreversible.
Is Isaac regulated by the FCA? +
Isaac is a planning and modelling tool, not a financial advisory service. We do not provide regulated financial advice, manage investments, or make recommendations. Isaac helps you explore “what if” scenarios based on the assumptions you enter. For personalised financial advice, please consult a qualified financial adviser.

Can my company offer Isaac to employees? +
Yes. Isaac for Employers gives your team access to Premium at no cost to them. You get a branded portal to manage licences and track engagement. Visit isaacmoney.com/employers to learn more or get in touch.
I’m a financial adviser. Can I use Isaac with clients? +
