Assumptions Used in This Calculator

Investment Growth

A nominal growth rate of 5% per year is applied to your pension pot during accumulation. This is a moderate assumption and actual returns may vary significantly.

Inflation

An inflation rate of 2.5% per year is used. Spending targets and drawdown are adjusted for inflation in real terms during retirement.

Tax Bands

Income tax is calculated using 2026/27 UK tax bands. The Personal Allowance is £12,570 (frozen until 2028). Scottish rates are available under “More options.”

State Pension

If included, the full new State Pension of £12,548/yr (2026/27) begins at age 67. Your actual entitlement depends on your National Insurance record.

Drawdown

Income is drawn from your DC pot to meet any shortfall between guaranteed income (State Pension, DB pension) and your spending target. No annuity purchase is modelled.

What’s Not Included

This calculator does not model ISA savings, property wealth, tax-free lump sums (PCLS), partner income, inheritance tax, or spending changes over time. For all of these, use Isaac.
